Stop touching everything!

My dad has this disease called shingles. Itís like chicken pox but, like, ten times worse. I feel bad for him, but does he really have to go around touching EVERYTHING? Is he trying to get the rest of the family sick? And on top of that, he refuses to wash his hands. Ew. I need more disinfectant spray.

I'm not sure if you would get infected easily but I know people who've had it before and yes, shingles is extremely painful.

It *is* chicken pox. Shingles is the same virus. After you get chicken pox as a kid, the disease never goes away, but like herpes, hides out in your nervous system to come out again when you're older. It feels worse because in the case of shingles it infects the nerve endings, making them hypersensitive.

If he infects you, you therefore won't get shingles now, you'll get chicken pox. Shingles will come out when you're his age.

If you've been vaccinated for chicken pox you're probably safe, but yeah. He should keep his hands to himself.

It only matters if you've never had chicken pox itself. It's the same virus. So if you've had chicken pox before stop flipping shit.

That's not true. You can get shingles even if you've had chicken pox, and moreover, you can get chicken pox more than once. So. It's still dangerous.

"You can get shingles even if you've had chicken pox" that's what I said. It's the same virus. If someone has Shingles, they can't pass on Shingles, they'll pass on Chicken Pox, which is less severe.

My mother has shingles. She tries to get me to touch her and shit. I'm pregnant, and shingles is very, very bad for unborn babies.

Don't. I have no idea what it'll do to your fetus but even just for you it would FUCKING SUCK. And being pregnant on top of it you would probably want to just end your life right then and there.

It can cause serious birth defects in a fetus. Just because you had chicken pox before does not guarantee immunity from it. From what I've read and heard, if you have shingles before you conceive, your baby will be okay, but catching it while pregnant is very bad.

Yeah, staying away from mommy dearest for a while...

Ah, definitely not good then. I figured it wouldn't be anything wonderful since it's a massive painful nerve-y virus.
