I happen to find burning flags, all-Hitler orgies and the Chinese character for enlightenment aesthetically appealing, OK? So I combine them into pretty pictures, but all the comments I get are like, "why do you hate America", or "yeah Hitler was a major hottie", or "are you sure there's just one Chinese character for enlightenment?". God, people are so SHALLOW. Why can they not judge my art for what it IS, rather than by what these symbols allegedly represent? I don't believe anything at all. I'm pretty sure I'm not even thinking, let alone thinking of the so-called complex meaning behind symbols I appropriate. This isn't a secret plan to get you to look at my art for examples. I just lament the fact that people are unable to acknowledge my brilliant appropriation of things I don't care about.
Yeah the Internet sucks. So, I can't say I got you exactly but I know a little of what you mean at any rate. Good luck and hopefully some of the less stupids comment on your art.
I just had that happen to a thread I made in this forum as a joke. Somebody took it totally wrong and I won't be surprised if they try to twist what I say around no matter how I explain it.
