As much as I love art and as much as *some* artists are cool people... This community drives me absolutely batshit insane.
There is an endless supply of emo children who think they're creative or clever.
There are hordes of unrelenting ass-kissers who cling to bad, selfish artists who will NEVER improve because they've only ever had their asses kissed, never critiqued.
And don't even get me started on WIP images with ALL YOUR TOOLS OH SO PERCECTLY ARRANGED AROUND YOUR DRAWING.

That's the world for you. I've met a lot of great people on here, which I think significantly outweighs the bad things about the "dA community."

No ones perfect and with a site as big as this you've got to expect to run into these kinds of people. If you get really annoyed with it and cannot take it I'd leave and go somewhere like ConceptArt where shit is taken pretty seriously (I think). Define what makes you better then all these emo's, I'd like to know your standards.
