Pretty much everywhere I go, I see the same irrational statement: DIGITAL ART ISN'T ART!
...Really? Just because we have Photoshop to help advance ow the picture looks, doesn't mean it's cheating. Sure, digital art doesn't have as many flaws as traditional art and with traditional art, you're testing your limits and such with tools that are more or less expensive that you buy at the store.
But digital art, believe it or not, is art. Most companies such as: Video Gaming industries, Advertisement, Comic book studios, Animated shows/movies, etc. All use digital art.
Saying it isn't art is just plain stupid to be honest. Art doesn't have to do with the tools you use but rather the talent you posses and skill to put it in a form.
I apologize for this as I'm sure it's been written before. It's hard to believe people can be so...naive.
It's an emerging medium and the oldies are hellbent on saying "it's not traditional; it's not real." Although, my parents say digital art is just "playing on the computer." It bugs me a lot.
I think people are saying that because the value of digital art can't replace traditional art. You can create an infinite amount of copies of digital art and sell them as prints, but its value is nothing like that of an original traditional painting.
art has to do with everything, so shut the fuck up.
The keyboard you're typing on is art. The text you are currently reading is art. Deal with it, everything is art and art is utterly meaningless as a word.
The only real option here is to stop giving a fuck and realize that all arts have their own shortcuts and merits to them. Digital art has a lot of shortcuts and "cheating" aspects to them, but in order to utilize said easy "cheats" oftentimes digital art takes just as long if not longer than traditional.
Traditional and Digital is all art. I don't understand, if digital isn't art, than what is it?
It takes the same, and sometimes more time to make digital. Although i have respect for really good traditional artist who take serious amounts of time to make art. So this isn't always the case.
Saying that Traditional art cost more money isn't valid either. Programs used to make digital art, can cost money by the month.
And saying that is its just doesn't make sense to me.. This is coming from a traditional artist as well.
And until you've drawn digital yourself, you can't say it isn't art.
