Okay, so maybe I'm too British or too non-religious to understand this... but why is this a thing? Surely a phonebox would be a much better use of whatever money has gone into these things? In what situation do you suddenly need to drop everything, fall to your knees and pray in public?
I, uh... wow, I've never seen one of those. This is quite literally on the street-corners to be seen by everyone. That last picture you linked to just... I can't believe that actually exists. It always seemed more sincere to me to keep it between you and God when praying. Possibly I'm too much of an introvert to get it? But it does seem a bit silly and nonsensical.
Pay phones barely exist anymore, and they cost money to upkeep. So no, I don't think a phonebox would be a better use of money because they would cost a lot more. At least some of these seem to be the abandoned payphones that got ripped out by the companies while leaving the shell there. So they're stupid, but they don't seem to be a waste of government money because — hopefully — there wasn't any involved.
I find it funny people think this is harmless but the fact these will get business is proof harm has already been made: Christians that use those things obviously haven't read the Bible and are now being manipulated by their ignorance into giving money so they perform a very sacrilegious act that if Yahweh exist probably pisses him right the hell off.
This is both wrong for scamming people and wrong on a religious level. I just hope clergy aren't getting swindle into greed by whoever made that shit and start promoting it because from what I've seen a good portion of Christians think whatever clergy at church said= part of Bible. Because apparently reading the Bible to make sure is too much fucking effort.
Glad you agree, I honestly don't get why people seem to think scamming ignorant people is ok :/ it seems like classic victim blaming. Honestly if I saw that shit in my city I would almost feel obligated to stand there with a bible with the quote saying public prayer is bad highlighted and inform people they're disappointing Jesus when they do that shit.
