The past 3 DD's in a row I have suggested have all become DD's, which I'm happy about. But I just can't help but feel sad when my name is never listed as the suggester. I'm sure I suggested it first, left a nice explanation, tumbnail, link, everything. They are accepted weeks later by someone else. I know the moderators can't keep track of all those suggestions, but do you think I should remind them I suggested it too? I know I'm making this a big deal, but I took the time to suggest it, it makes me want to not suggest anymore..
It happens Either someone else suggested it way before you did and sometimes the DA community volunteer will list more than one suggester and sometimes they only list the first suggester or they forget all together. I say here are your options: -stop suggesting if it bothers you that much -suggest different work to different community volunteers -just get over it cause it's about the fact they got the DD just know in your head you suggested it and be happy about it -ask the community volunteer in a note why you weren't mentioned they might respond they might not they are pretty busy.
Yes it's about the artist getting noticed for their work and not the suggester but if that was 100% all the way true they wouldn't bother listing the suggesters at all..sometimes we like to get credit for helping a fellow deviant get noticed but don't let it get to you really
ask the community volunteer in a note why you weren't mentioned they might respond they might not they are pretty busy.
The answer to that is pretty simple though: suggesting a DD is about putting another person in the spotlight, not yourself. Be it either because the note was sent after the DD was already scheduled, or because too many people suggested the piece, a name can't just be added. I've had people demand to be added after the feature already went live and then flip a table when I told them I couldn't or wouldn't.
It happens. If you're that upset by it, just keep suggesting more DDs. I mean, the point of suggesting DDs is to make the person being featured happy, anyway.
Just be glad you haven't suggested any people who were actually OFFENDED to get a DD. It's like, "Well gee, I'm sorry for getting you more recognition and doubling your watchers, Your Highness." Needless to say, I don't watch that person anymore.
I think he was upset because I suggested a demo reel, which wasn't his "best work." The only things in his gallery at the time was the demo reel, some half-rendered animation stills, and a completed animation that had already received a DD, so I don't know what else I was supposed to suggest.
