A good friend of mine recently posted this on Tumblr. I can't help but agree with her.
"Why do people think that Trolling is not bullying?
It is exactly that, cyber-bullying.
People don’t know when to stop. One of my very good friends has been through the worst kind of shit lately just because she does a different style of artwork. Call it what you will, she is very creative and everyone just keeps bashing on her and calling her the worst names, saying the worst shit about her. It has to stop.
It’s shit like this which just irks me to no end. You call it trolling it’s not!
It’s cyber-bullying. And people just don’t know when to quit because they cannot see the person they are bullying. They cannot see the person they’re hurting nor interact with them and that lessens to just-about kills the guilt and remorse that one can feel because they cannot gauge reactions from just looking at the text returned to them. The internet jades you to all things human because you are not face to face and human interaction is VITAL when trying to process someone’s feelings.
My friend hit the stage where she thought harming herself fatally was a GOOD idea.
This is NOT a good idea and dear lords how many more people have to go through this exact same shit, how many more friends of mine do I have to see driven into the ground by cyber bullying before it stops?
It’s not trolling.
You’re taking it way
too
FAR.
Who cares if someone doll bases?
Who cares if someone 3D models?
Who the fuck cares if you do just sketches, or do just digital art OR just traditional art?
Who in the whole wide world cares if you do ANY of it?
DO what makes YOU happy. Why the hell does ANYONE have to come down hard on someone for something that makes them feel good, or makes them feel happy? Is happiness a crime now-a-days? Apparently, it is.
I lose faith in humanity every single day because of this shit. Because of the senseless violence in the real world and on the internet. I have good friends. YOU have good friends.
Don’t take away someone’s good or even BEST friend with your backwashed, egotistical, sociopathic tripe just because you think it’s cool, or okay.
It’s not.
It’s really, really not.
I’m going to convince my friend that she is loved and that she is a good person and that she is wanted.
You know what? Compared to real-life bullying, this "cyber-bullying" thing can be stopped with the push of a button. By the way, do you guys have a soap bubble in stead of a skin? Cause if you can't take a little trolling, real live will mash you up into a fine minced beef.
Speaking of trolls and all, there is Encyclopedia Dramatica to deal with. I knew some who had to deal with these people. Cyndi got her troll stuff completely removed. how, I don't know.
well perhaps some of it is true but...you know, maybe tell your friend that the internet should never be taken seriously...I mean really, we let people on here who do things like sync their voice up to spongebob and make dick jokes.....not the sanest kind of people in the world....but in the end people entitled to their own opinion...if your friend is serious about her art, she should maybe bring it to a teacher and get a real critique? That way she can work to improve her art and not rely on the internet *which we have established is not all the way sane*.

Reposting will earn you love points?
I can't help but agree with her.
Well, yeah, else you'd lose love points, and we wouldn't want that, now would we?
Why do people think that Trolling is not bullying?
Perhaps because of, you know, basic English.
[link] Definition of troll verb [no object] fish by trailing a baited line along behind a boat: we trolled for mackerel search for something: a group of companies trolling for partnership opportunities [with object]: I spent tonight trolling the Internet for expensive lighting gear Computing, informal send or submit a provocative email or posting with the intention of inciting an angry response: if people are obviously trolling then I’ll delete your posts and do my best to ban you

noun
a line or bait used in trolling for fish. informal a provocative email or posting intended to incite an angry response. informal a person who sends such an email or submits such a posting: one solution is to make a troll’s postings invisible to the rest of community once they’ve been recognized
[link] Definition of cyberbullying noun [mass noun]
the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature: children may be reluctant to admit to being the victims of cyberbullying
Because the definition may be confusing through the use of the word "bully", bullying is defined as:
a person who uses strength or influence to harm or intimidate those who are weaker: he is a ranting, domineering bully
verb (bullies, bullying, bullied) [with object]
use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force them to do something: a local man was bullied into helping them
As you can see, the two are unmistakably different.
It is exactly that, cyber-bullying.
No, see above.

Where have we heard this before...? Vague situation description is vague. I've had to search through the thread to find what this actually is about. Your failure to understand critique is neither trolling or cyberbullying.
It’s shit like this which just irks me to no end. You call it trolling it’s not!
We wouldn't even call it trolling.
It’s cyber-bullying.
See definition. It is not.
And people just don’t know when to quit because they cannot see the person they are bullying. They cannot see the person they’re hurting nor interact with them and that lessens to just-about kills the guilt and remorse that one can feel because they cannot gauge reactions from just looking at the text returned to them.
Something here tells me you don't have much experience with bullies IRL. Perhaps it's the naive idea they might feel guilty while bullying and stopping because of that.
The internet jades you to all things human because you are not face to face and human interaction is VITAL when trying to process someone’s feelings.
I think you're talking about body language here, and let me inform you that it is not vital, or even required, to understand another person's feelings. I should know, I have to discern such things through pure analysis.
My friend hit the stage where she thought harming herself fatally was a GOOD idea.
Luckily, no harm was done to any real people involved.
This is NOT a good idea and dear lords how many more people have to go through this exact same shit, how many more friends of mine do I have to see driven into the ground by cyber bullying before it stops?
It never stops.
It’s not trolling.
It most certainly isn't the case, as the definitions clearly tell us it isn't.
You’re taking it way

Please verify this claim.

I'm going to wager a guess here and say: Art Critics?

People are not meant to be happy. People are meant to work. Society does not run on happiness. Did you not learn this in school? Or did you skip that class?
I lose faith in humanity every single day because of this shit. Because of the senseless violence in the real world and on the internet.
Unfortunately for you, humanity does not need nor require your faith to function properly.
I have good friends. YOU have good friends.
The difference being I can actually touch my good friends.
Don’t take away someone’s good or even BEST friend with your backwashed, egotistical, sociopathic tripe just because you think it’s cool, or okay.

I’m going to convince my friend that she is loved and that she is a good person and that she is wanted.
Congratulations, you have just managed to insult every victim to bullying in the world.
Gods, the internet makes me SICK.
Then leave the internet. It's not that hard, especially if it makes you sick.
