Staying at home is anti-feminist!

This pisses me off so fucking much. Literally. I can not put into words how much anger this makes me feel. What ever happened to fucking choice ?

I also want to be the best possible mother, but I know that my job as a mother includes bringing my children up so actually they can live without me

Oh yes, that's right. Before mothers started to work, everyone was fucked up and unable to live their mothers. That's why no one ever moved out and they all had breakdowns when their mothers died ... Oh wait :slow:

How dare women enjoy being mothers! How dare women be happy and content doing what they want.

If mothers have to go work? Good on them. If they want to go work? Good on them. If mothers want to stay at home? Good on them.

During a speech at Fortune magazine's Most Powerful Women event at the five-star Claridge's hotel in London earlier this week, barrister and wife of the former prime minister said that a growing band of so-called "yummy mummies" were happy to put their children first before a satisfying and rewarding career.

Yes, because your career has to be the number one priority in your life...

If I'm in a situation where I can stay home or even more preferably, work a day or two a week, I will, and 'feminists' can go suck a big, hairy, fat one.

They fail to realize that men also wish to marry a rich lady so they don't have to work. It's just not as common because men think they need to prove dominance. (Not saying all men do, just generalization) I say anybody who claims it's a feminist issue, is clearly a sexist that only worries about the female population and reputation.

How dare you choose to make that comment! Didn't you know? Choices are now a bad thing? :dummy:

Kindergarten/daycare/pre-prep is beneficial to children, but I wouldn't want them there everyday.

kindergarten is when they're 5. not when they're 2.
also, there's some horror stories about daycare that put me off of it forever.

one story being: my brother was about 2 when my mom was working again. she picked him up and found out this one little girl had bitten a chunk out of his arm and they did nothing to help him or stop her other than '-girl- stop that'

...
i just am not fond of my kid being around otehr kids of other backgrounds that i don't know. sorry, but i know how i was as a kid, and i can kind of deduce that my kid would prolly be just as stand-offish as i was, or be picked on like my boyfriend was. both of those are things i don't want to deal with when i didn't get to watch my kid's first word/step/etc because he/she is in daycare anyway.

We started at 3 or 4, depending on if you went one year or two.

Not in Australia. Kindergarten is from 6 weeks until up to 4, then you have pre-prep (3-4) prep (4-5) and year one (5-6)

There is a good side to it as well, trust me. Most people don't realize, but a good early childhood educational centre makes individual educational plans for each child. A good teacher should be able to tell where each and every child is developmentally and they should have a plan about helping them get to the next stage. I'm going into prac this semester. (I'm basically a student-teacher) and I am expected to make observations and then make plans to do with those observations, and I'm dealing with 6 weeks - 2 years.

The oddest thing is, by the time I finish my degree, I'm going to be more qualified then the people supervising me. (They'll have diplomas at the most, I'm going to have a bachelor)

All the playing they do is actually learning. Playing with playdoh? Developing fine motor skills. Painting? learning how to isolate body parts when they move. Games? learning how to communicate.
