Or get to it, fuck, I dunno. This is potentially yet another shitty complaint, but I think that a bit of it's shitness can be diluted by the fact that it's related to artistic frustrations and shit.
Not really, but anyways.
So I'm writing this story, right? I've been working on it for a few weeks now, and have made only marginal progress partially out of laziness (TF2 does that to me) and partially out of a small block. But I think I've diagnosed why I've been having the block.
I have six paragraphs or so of writing. Long paragraphs. But throughout the entirety of those paragraphs, I have failed to introduce a plot arch. The first paragraph lacks a decent hook, but the problem is I can't find a better one. I've introduced several characters in detail, but I've failed to get the plot going. And I fear that no matter how I try, if I do try to get a plot arch started, it will have been so far into the narrative that it loses the interest of the reader.
Now, I have decent characters. They're new-feeling ("feeling" because nothing is truly 100% original) and, in my arrogant opinion, fairly intriguing. The problem is, I've dwelled on this and decided to explain them outright the first six paragraphs. This means that I may have little to no opportunity to flesh them out throughout the novel, as I already have done so. This is a bad thing.
As a result of all this, I've hit a brick wall. Either I detract from the overall quality of the narrative and suddenly introduce the plot arch, or I keep going in this vien and kill a few old ladies out of boredom.
*sighs*
Well, that was a shitty complaint. Enjoy, motherfuckers.
teal deer: You don't even have to scroll down. Read it you lazy fuck.
At least you've written something. I planned a whole story, and was so close to starting it, then ditched the whole thing because I realized the characters were flat and the plot was shit.
