that's true, but unfortunately it's mostly popular with 13 year olds.
dA's already made quite a name for itself, but maybe it should make its standards higher. okay, that sounds very egotistical of me, and I'm not saying that my 'art' is good, but there are people out there that are much worse than I...so I suppose all I'm saying is that people need to realise that while this site of social, that doesn't mean you can just upload any old happy-snap or doodle in the margins of your exercise book.
It's pointless complaining about it. You must have lied about your age when signing up. Which means your registered date of birth is still a lie. So you're breaking one of the more integral site rules just by being here at all.
I do kinda agree. The halls of Deviant Art are polluted with bad fan art. And yes, generally, younger deviants draw them. I'm glad the Internet was practically non existent when I was 12, otherwise I would also have filled my page with crap. I find it rather encouraging that so many kids draw and show their drawings to the world. Time and practice will make them better artists and hopefully someday fans will imitate their art.
But yeah, it does annoy me when I'm trying to look for some inspiration and find nothing but anatomically disproportionate manga characters I don't recognize.
Oh yes. I hate it, shouldn't they realize that the site is for 13+ and blocks them from continuing to register until they change the year of birth. :/ And they continue to join and add their age under their profile info.
I think it would help if when someone is underage banned the staff tells them that the ban will be lifted when they turn 13 and that making another account is called ban evasion and it will stop them from being able to come back.
It's one thing when I have to report an underage user, it's another when I have to report them again because they're very open about who they used to be. I feel bad that they're stopping themselves from ever having a chance to come back.
Let them be unimaginative...damn, how much do you expect from 12 year olds? The average 12 year old doesn't do much art at all past drawing giraffes that look like teapots.
I have met some awesome artists on this site who were around the 12 year age too, it'd be a shame to kill all of them off the site just because you had to witness some things you don't like...oh, and where did you get the plug-in that forces 12 year old produced fanart onto your monitor without you doing anything? I'd like to see that, it'd be fun.
