OH NOES! KIDS ARE FINDING BAD SITES! BLOCK THEM AT THE ISP LEVEL!

That seems to be the latest outcry here. Kids are finding bad sites because parents are letting children as young as five use the internet unmonitored. It shouldn't be the job of an ISP to do the work of a parent. It seems children are being raised by everything other than their family these days. The TV and internet seem to have taken responsibility for children away from parents.

Bullshit I say.

The Australian Government even offer FREE SOFTWARE for parents to filter and monitor internet activity on their home computers. But of course this is apparently not enough because it involves the parents, heaven forbid, doing something!

For fuck's sake, learn to take responsibility for your children and their activity online. If you can't be bothered watching them, expect problems.

I think that is ridiculous. If parents know enough about what their children are doing online then they ought to know enough to set up site blockers. :unimpressed:

It's called "hands off" parenting, and it's running absolutely rampant these days. :hmm:

Oh, HELL.

Only reason why kids are stupid these days is improper parental guidance.

Of course, my family's way of parental guidance is quite questionable to other people. However, it gets the job done right.

Remember kids, talking to inanimate objects is deemed socially unacceptable by the public mass, isn't that right, Companion Cube?

But that involves them doing something

Hell, most parents won't even turn the parental lockout system on their cable set top box on and then bitch about kids seeing inappropriate shows.

I agree with you. I personally don't see why five year olds need internet access at all.

I wasn't so much filtered in my net access at home, but I was told what was acceptable, and I was watched like a hawk when I was online.

I see parents who give young kids net access in their bedrooms.
