I know I'm not the first or only person to bring this up here... but... because certain DA subscribers/staffers egos are bruised easily, they repeatedly asked me to post this here. Thanks to the many deviants who agree with me... But, I agree with the whiners on reposting this here... only with EVEN MORE FREE OPINION & INFO!

TOO MANY ADS = GOODBYE DA!
I am boycotting DA until the intrusive new ads are gone from Galleries and Favorites.
There is already plenty of banner ad space for free accounts.
If DA needs more advertising revenue, they can increase the rates not the number and size of ads appearing. Or they can work on revenue-generating marketing partnerships. Or they can improve the value proposition to users to encourage people to go for paid subscriptions.
The fact is, ugly Advertising plopped down wherever Marketing Dept. thought it would get the maximum exposure, is plainly and patently disrespectful of any artist's work.
DA is throwing tomatoes at its users -->
I prefer going to a paid site with no advertising, and the subscription rate DA is charging is too high for what is offered in terms of exposure, and features, so DA is not that paid site.
So, Goodbye for now, DA. I'm sure thousands of people are in agreement with me when I say the new ads are just unnecessarily obnoxious.
[postscript: I'd like to point out that I am not complaining about the existence of ads on DA. ***Ads are fine within reason.*** And Ad blocker software is great, but that's not my point.
I am complaining about the SIZE and LOCATION of the NEW ads that are appearing in Gallery, Favorites pages of unsubbed MEMBERS.
Those ads are in the wrong spot and everyone knows it.
Also, DA Members are DA members. If they like DA they might become Subscribers, too. If DA didn't want those unsubbed members they wouldn't have decided they needed them to begin with. DA bills the DA advertisers for running their ads on the pages of unsubbed Members, just like many other sites. That's how they pay the bills. That's fine. AND therefore, unsubbed Members are making money for DA. But the NEW AD$ are cynical and intrusive.
Please understand the facts before you just blah-blah. Thanks!]

They just dislike how you people tear up the characters and have them anally ream each other for you to masturbate with your pocky sticks. ~sergeant-tinkles on Yaoi

DA gives you the right to host your work and display it here, personally Im rather happy they allow me service and I do not find the new ads intrusive at all, its their fucking site ffs and they gave you the gallery.

Let me clarify a little for you and others reading these comments...
Without DA user content, there really wouldn't be many DA users. Without users, advertisers see no demographics and statistics and no point for budgeting ad dollars. Advertisers are here because our eyeballs and content are here. DA is here because advertiser dollars pay for their digs and gear and staff. But, plastering ads over the user content (the gallery and faves pages of members) is not a good way to implement advertising. They can do a better job, and it's in our best interests to ask them to, right? Peace...

Are you high? It's like once corner add. I have it too but you don't hear me bitch and moan and go on protest because of it. That's a step bellow the popular artist bitching about Fair Exposure. Hell why don't we let DA break down? Evey time they do something people got to bitch about it. The only bad thing they did was take down the stickies but that's about it.

heheh... yeah... i'm just saying, they can make their money without killing our artsy mojo trust me, i know... and they know it too... they've got an AD-diction and it's our job to clean DA up. it's why the only people who are really defensive are the staffers and long-time subscribers. ad blockers and alternative OS and Browser are super but that's another topic for another day

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
