Okay I recently had a brain blip that caused me to attempt a picture from scratch in Photoshop. I use Photoshop 7. Can anyone tell me how to blend and do painting effects? I have a pretty good grasp on the program, but still kinda unsure what all to do. This is a link to the piece I am working on [link] note this is just a work in progress screenshot and all I have really gotten much done in fleshing out is the faces of the girls. I have yet to do bodies and clothing details. Can anyone give me pointers? I can't seem to use the Photoshop brushes and techniques I normally use to make a painting like effect.

Try adjusting the Opacity and Flow settings to achieve the effect you're looking for.

I would also suggest trying out Corel Painter. That program is designed to emulate traditional media, and it is fully compatible with Photoshop (it can read and write in .psd format). You can download the 60-day free full trial version at [link]

Not to mention using a feathered brush soo theres no defining line. And if you go into the Brushes menu in the top right hand corner, click on brush tip shape at the top and change the "Other Dynamics" controls to Fade you can get a flick effect with your brush. ^-^ or randomly play with them all until you over load with fun madness!

I will try that. I want to eventually buy Painter. I can't find any freeware Gimp like programs that do Painter emulations, but I may just not have found it yet. ^_^

Ooh good idea didn't think of that. I am just kinda frustrated because its extremely time consuming and confusing. I know I can do it, I just have to do it right to be satisfied :)
