Here is my first forum topic... I really need to spill the beans!

I started taking pics with film in the beginning, then i got a digital camera (great mistake), I spent 3
years shooting with digital confident that i would be fullfilled with it, and i got so bored of the photographing act itself that i stoped taking pics. A bunch of months later i bough a 6x4.5 camera and i started shooting again. A good basic film camera has shown me what photography is all about. With film, either you master your camera or you cant take any good pics, it makes you understand your camera and be so confident that it shows how far from stunning landscapes (with HDR and punchy colors), good photography can be.
Digital is a great prejudice for anyone who wants to love and understand photography. Above all i blame the LCD display pic, it deceives every single decision u make before and after taking a picture.

There! I can breathe now... And sorry for my poor writing :(

PS: I dont hate you digital scum, its just a shame... so much talent lost!

I believe it has hidden the way for true photography. I think it makes you do photoshopography. Photography ends when you press the shutter, and thats something that most people dont know or simply forget. People trust in a display image to show what they want to see. It takes away the need of understanding the lens/color rendering and everything about a pic before looking through the camera. Thats wy it kills the true process of taking pics.

Well, from what I see, all pros use cameras with film. Digital ones are made for the mass user, who doesn't have the skills to focus every picture and make art of it, but just to capture memories. For which I think digi camera is quite better... and it's really light.

Dude, do you mean you don't use photoshop? If yes, I must watch you... no wait, I will watch you anyway.

I do, since i scan my pics, but i make sure it is only the strictly required... Croping the film watermarks and slight curves adjust(most times with scanning software)

If your curious about my previous digital work :iconfor-the-glory:

I wish i could find a non digital photographer to share thoughts ^^

Digitals practical feature is what makes it so destructive, i allways take pics with a bulky mamiya camera and i can take great spontaneous shots. Its just a matter of getting used to it.

Many great photographers have turned digital, but they went through the analog era before they become digital. So i dont know what will happen from now on...

I know photographers that have started with film, gone digital and sworn of film, then went back to film and sworn of digital. I also know photographers that started with film and gone digital and never looked back. It's all about taste and one's individual photographic and artistic practice.

I personally get more satisfaction out of film photography, I feel more physically involved in the image I'm producing (processing film and developing prints by hand), but I like digital photography just as much for different reasons. I don't think either one is inherently better than the other.

"Above all i blame the LCD display pic, it deceives every single decision u make before and after taking a picture."

With a D-SLR, you don't look at an LCD screen before taking a picture. You look though a viewfinder like you would with any film SLR camera.

Photoshop only makes adjustments to an existing picture. It doesn't make all the principles of visual mechanics obsolete.
