I'm a righty and I have just recently been riding a scooter around town and I plan on getting a motorcycle in the future. With the recent brushes with danger and the future ones sure to come, I have been thinking like a geek by saying to myself
"if I lost my right hand in a horrible accident, I know I couldn't draw anymore. Then what?"
I imagine I'd improvise and do other things, but I love drawing so much, I think I'd come close to suicide.
So hypothetically speaking, you lose your means of creating art as you know it and have spent years training yourself to do...now what?
if you loved it that much you'd learn to draw with your left hand or feet. I remember watching a documentary where Fraza not sure if that's how you spell it learned to draw with left hand after suffering a stroke that incompacitated his right hand

Art is a science. Critique my art. You won't hurt my feelings. Any ideas or advice is appreciated.
Learn to draw with my left hand? I'd probably have to learn to write with it, anyhow..
However, until I manage to tame the unfamiliar beast of lefthandedness, I'd probably retreat to one of my other hobbies -- blogging, translating, writing, and wrestling bears.
If it was because I could no longer use my right hand, I'd learn to use my left. I've already tried that some... ( [link] ) obviously the results haven't been great, but I know I could learn. But I'd be seriously bummed because that would mean I couldn't play my instruments anymore.
If it was because I'd been blinded, and I really couldn't draw effectively, I'd focus on playing music even more. Don't need eyes for that, just ears and hands. But I'd be seriously bummed 'cause I couldn't draw/paint.

I'd probably do abstract art. My left hand doesn't work properly (cerebral palsy, har har) so if I'd attempt to use it, I'd never be able to produce more than messy scribbles.
Or maybe I'd use my foot.
