Lens Problem

I recieved a Fujifilm Finepix F770 yesterday, and it's all fine except the lens shutter thing only closes partially when I turn it off. The top part closes but the bottom part doesn't, and because I keep forgetting to close it myself with my finger it is always smudging and I am worried it will smash.

Do you have any advice about what to do to fix the camera?
I am trying to avoid sending it back, as I would like to have it for I part I am holding on Saturday night.

I'd suggest sending it back, a camera should not be visibly defective like that right out of the box. Who knows what other issues you might run into in the future.
