So, I'm feeling kind of bored and stuck lately. I write a lot, and I haven't taken photos in a long time, except of my son. I decided to post something on my facebook asking my friends to give me an "assignment" of a subject for a photo.
Now, there's some stipulations.. Some things will be more difficult for me than others. I don't have access to like, kittens or puppies for example.
I live in Portland, Oregon, so I can't take a picture of the ocean. It can be as random and specific as you want. Right now I have "frog", "a picture of the inside of a pomegranate", "Someone's lips (adult mouth)", and "a replica of stonehenge made from marshmallows".
If you want it macro, tell me. I haven't done micro before. It may take me a little while, I start college soon and have an 8 month old.. But if you feel like it, go ahead and give me something. I don't care if it's specific or vague (like "Something blue" or, well, a marshmallow stonehenge )
Go out and take some portraits of people on the street. If possible put them in front of advertisements or posters, why? Because its always great to see the differences and similarities between where I live and where others live.
easy - trains, cars, and transportation, architecture daytime. Go for a nice nature walk with camera and shoot what you find.
medium - external shoot diners, or old buildings with old style neons. night time. Shoot landscapes around twilight. Mild time exposures.
hard - sunset/rises, moon shots. Extreme time exposures.
Medium and hard are such because the light meter becomes a balkpark figure around this, and your eyes play tricks on you as far as how much light is in the area. film becomes more sensative to smaller changes in fstop and exposure. At the same time colors become more vivid, and correlate less to how you see them. The sky can turn all wonderful shades of blue not seen to the naked eye.
Awesome, thanks! I'll at least try I tried taking photos when I was pregnant of the trees in autumn, but I only have a 70$ camera so I don't quite know how to fiddle with it right. I will definitely give them a shot though
1. How about an autumn photoshoot? From your gallery I can tell you like to shoot nature the most, you can ask someone to pose for you. It's a very demanding, but fun job, planning a photoshoot. 2. On the other hand, you don't always have to shoot nature. Try something conceptual, look for the deviant category to get the idea and inspiration. 3. Take some pictures after the rain. Everything seems so dreamy after the rain, especially tiny little flowers with lots of raindrops on it.
