I used to. I haven't in about a year because I've started focusing on my portrait work. But I do love working concerts, even if I do seem to only work in poorly lit venues.
I have been doing it (with progressively better success) for six years. But no longer post any of it on deviantart. It all ends up on my tumblr, Lovecraftinportland.tumblr.com
Nice shots dude! And hats off to you for still using film. Do you develop the film yourself, or do you use a service?
How do you find tumblr? I've been thinking of joining myself, just haven't got round to it yet. Do you see any benefits/downsides when compared to DA or flickr for example?
Thanks, and no, I currently use a local analogue camera store for my developing, but will probably do it myself once I get around to it, at least the black and white stuff.
Personally, the biggest benefit for me is the exposure. I have gotten far more likes and reblogs on there than I ever did on deviantart. I also like being separate from a whole "community" since it's easier to direct someone to my tumblr than to tell them how to see them on here.
As for flickr, I don't know if it's just me, but I get weird compression when i've viewed things on flickr and have just never really enjoyed using it all that much. If I was going to switch to anything else it would probably be 500px. And you can always use flickr and tumblr, since they kind of serve two different purposes.
Only did it once, as a favor to the singer (who's a close friend of mine), it was in a very narrow and tight restaurant-bar thing, with me barely having enough room to move about (I was less than a meter away from the singer), anyway, here are some I took:
I have been shooting rock concerts for a few years now. Are there any other concert photographers out there?
It's always nice to see different styles of shooting gigs. You can find inspiration anywhere.
Cheers,
Niko
