When going specifically to meet with a client, it's better to have printed portfolio, although it's a good idea to have them on your phone or something that's always with you, since you never know when you'll meet a potential client.

There is a big difference between an 11x14 printed portfolio and a small digital display. For commercial clients I use the former, for showing to friends and people you meet at a bar, I use the latter.

You misunderstood me. Commercial clients include potential business and should be approached with a paper portfolio.

Im going to agree with FallisPhoto and Kintarotpc. A physical portfolio is much more impressive than a digital portfolio.

Going to go ahead and second paper being a better alternative to any tablet. Gives a better impression than "Hey, look at these pics I happen to have on my phone."

Seriously? A portfolio full of paper prints. Many company's submission guidelines require that.
