As I begin to pick up more clients and paid work, I'm looking to further brand myself. Kendra Paige, is my actual name, so I'd like to stick with it preferably.
The issue is that I share the name with a porn star, who is ranked higher than I am if you search my name in google.
That being said, my URL for my photography site is not my name, for that very reason, but if I do brand myself I'd like the business name to be 'Kendra Paige Photography.' Before I register my business name and get licenses, I need to make sure the name I pick is the one I plan to stick with. My fear is that people may mistakenly stumble upon this porn star's site instead of my own. I researched her domain and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
K.Paige - Photographer. You should have fewer hits for the porn star if you don't use her first name. Nobody will know your gender, unless you use your full name on your website. I suggest the use of "photographer" instead of "photography" because it makes people think more of you as a professional.
I wouldn't worry about it. Most people will realize that it's not you. It would be more of an issue if, however, you shared the name with an other photographer.
You can always use a different pen name. My penname is Sam Rickim, as my full name is Samantha Ricki Medeiros and no one can spell Medeiros.
Don't you have a second name or sth like that? If you do, you could use it. Assuming out of the blue it's Tiffani, you could brand yourself as Kendra Tiffany Paige, KT Paige or something like that.
It's a non-issue. People looking for "Kendra Paige Photography" with Google will add the word "Photography" which puts you as the top result and removes all others outright. Only typing "Kendra Paige" has that one additional search result, but "Image Search" brings up your photos and not anything pornographic. Unless you legally change your name, or bring a law suit against the woman (since I doubt "Kendra Paige" is her real name) the "porn link" isn't something you'll be able to avoid as you'll eventually have to tell your clients your actual name anyway.
I think once a Google Bot properly crawls over your dA page, with the new name change, the search results will change as well. Being more active on dA (thus having your name pop up more often) will also give dA priority in the search results.

What would you do in my situation?
