I know it's a personal choice, really. But maybe you can feed me some knowledge. Can you specifically state what type of camera you use and why you like your camera (or maybe you don't)? Or do you know any major differences between Nikon and Canon cameras?
I live in Asia and trust me, getting lens here in Pakistan is like pain in the ass .. I currently own a Nikon D5000 with a basic lens and a 70-300 Nikkor lens .. The main problem is that photography is not much of a profession here so camera equipment is really expensive .. I prefer Canon because it have a lot of variety and range of lenses that you can afford .. Nikon is expensive .. But in terms of camera body, there is not much of a difference ..
Actually I had to decide this not so long ago. I really liked the Lenses Canon can offer but on the other hand Nikon provides me with a much more usable and enjoyable handling there is. So I picked up my D700 and didn't regret it even once. It just feels right to hold this Camera and operate it. Haptics is a very important point for me.
I actually refered to the range of lenses you can get. Nikon is let's say more traditionel where Canon can deliver really exotic and by the way really expensive Lenses like the 50mm 1,2 and so on.
But maybe you can feed me some knowledge.
