Is it a good idea...

Is it a good idea to write a fanfic/story about an original TV/movie, but have it set years after they depart for some reason and have two of them meet seeing how he/she has had kids and they either fall in love or back in love? Becasue my story 'Affection' (check it out BTW) is just like that and I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

Writing is never a waste of time, and if you love something enough to write fan fiction about it, I say go for it. Don't stifle your creativity. As for the premise, that's the beauty of fanfiction, it can explore concepts that the source material didn't.

It's just a thing. There is nothing inherently good or bad about it.

You should do what you like doing. You don't have to share it with your friends if it's not their thing.

Just got it. I don't watch teen titans and neither does anyone I know. ^^; So I can't really help you.

they're more of the 'dumb music' and 'judge every bit of art or writing ever' kind of people. but they're still in school so they're just idiots anyways. plus they're pretty snobby

Don't listen to those "Friends". They're probably very jealous of your writing talent.

I'll take a look at some of your work, if you wish.

If you're not forcing them to read it I don't see why it should matter.

So practice till it becomes better :) Alternatively, why not ignore it? Who cares if they understand your hobby or not. It's your hobby. Everyone has hobbies.

wow nice friends.

At the end of the day, your creative outlet is your own. If you want to write it for your own pleasure than do so, if you want to write for an audience in mind, then perhaps do a bit of research and read what is already out there on the themes that interest you?

Also- if you want people here to read your stuff, there is an excellent critique thread in this forum as well as lots of critique +Groups

I have no clue what you're asking. Let's try this: What are you concerned about? Copyright law: Story idea? Dachshund apocalypse?

I'm curious to know whether the Dachshund apocalypse is like a zombie apocalypse, or some other type of apocalypse caused by a Dachshund. A bit like this: [link] .

I imagined it as more of a Gary Larson-esque Wiener Dog vs. Knight... or a bit like the bunny in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

That depends on what your objectives are. If you want to publish this, then basing it off a movie may not be a good idea. If you just want something fun to do, then hey, go for it!

You don't need our or anyone else's permission to do something you feel may be enjoyable. If it makes you a better writer in the long run, then you've even derived some practical value from the experience.

a good thing like:
good to do in spare time.
a bad thing like:
wast of time and/or stupid.

I don't think we can answer that for you. If you enjoy it, of course it's a good thing. If you don't, it's not. That's up to you to find out.
