I am half way though my first uni course; primary education specialising in art. After this I wish to go on and study fine art. However I didn't study art at Alevel because Science and English were more useful to me at the time.
Is it that important to have the a level or would a good portfolio and a degree generally suffice?
It depends on what you want to do. I know somebody who never did Art 'A' level but still got onto a fine art degree with their portfolio. I don't know what they expect to do with it though - they can't draw as good as me and I never even did GCSE art...
Get on Google. Find the website for the specific school or uni department you hope to attend. Research their admissions and/or degree requirements. If you can't find the appropriate page, then contact their admissions or a counsellor in the department.
