Are you talking about modern art as in from the 1800's and up or is Romanticism included?
I don't think we call things isms because it will impact art, I think we call them names because they have made an impact and we need to name that impact.
I understand what he means. He means all those art movments in the past.
It should be an obvious yes, because it answers why modern art is different from the renessaince. Or Why hyperealism, or photorealism is back on a bigger scale due to the abstract movements.
Has the "ism" movement made big impact on the way we view art?
