drawing realistic humans

I know i should practice a lot but my human drawings always look cartoonish, even if i use references :( are there any tips to improve myself ? My lines come out so sharp looking (like geometric) they don't look smooth or loose. It also sometimes happen when i draw animals. I want to get clean but loose drawings :(((

If you use references and still your people end up cartoonish, this means you're not drawing what you see - you're drawing what you think things should look like.
