Taking care of animation cels (HELP!)

I just purchased a set of animation cels and production drawings online (yay/boo ebay). Unfortunately, when they arrived the cels were stuck to the production sketches. Is there any way to separate them without damaging them? What sort of professional should I be looking up?

In a case like that, they may or may not be able to be salvaged. It depends on how much damage has been done.

You need to find someone who works specifically with cells to restore and frame them.

My guess is the cels got wet and the paint stuck to the paper. Not an easy fix that I know of since it's been years I have worked with cels. You might contact the folks at Cartoon Colour Company and see if they have any advice. They are the few who still sell such materials. [link]

If you ask an animation collectors gallery they might charge you for advice.
