Drawin' habits

:iconnailclippins:

Yo. I recently noticed i'll squint a whole lot while drawing.

This is not because I don't see, it's just an unconscious thing i do.
My reasoning is that it lets me focus less on details and more on the whole picture, as it actually makes it harder to see things.

I also often make the facial expressions I am drawing, which might have obvious benefits.

Share your unconscious drawing habits, and how you think they might help/ hinder you!

Naw, man, hunchbacks talk to gargoyle statues. I do not have the statues required to maintain a respectable hunchback status

I blur my vision a lot. Like starting to but not quite crossing your eyes, y'know? If whatever I'm working on is in my lap, I also have a tendency to slowly lean over so I eventually end up nearly curled in a ball and giving it the Kubrick stare. I'm trying to break that one before it breaks my back.

Don't stop, it's good for your posture. People like hunchbacks better.

My facial expressions used to make the models laugh and drop their pose back when I was in school.

Some of our models make US laugh and drop our drawing utensils.

everybody kinda does that. it's some artefact of the drawing process where your body kinda subconsciously 'lives out' what you're intending to draw.

Yeahhh, is there something else we do to mimix stuff we draw?

I Will sometimes clench all the muscles in my body if i'm drawing someone doing something strenuous.

Hmmmm. I also do the facial expression thing.
I also perch in my seat, move real close to the screen/paper, and squint.

I don't perch, but I most certainly put my whole face in a sheet of paper. Sometimes.

I think I have a habit of perching on any chair I sit on.

I've only recently noticed that while reading, drawing and writing I make the facial expressions of the characters I'm imagining.

Most of the time I do this in public. I must appear very weird. XD

I do the same as you. I also have a tendency to tilt my head a lot, never really thought about why I do it though. I also lean back, probably for the same reason as squinting. Other than that nothing comes to mind. A friend of mine does this thing where he sucks in air when he draws, as if he's taking the first sip from an invisible pint.

The sipping thing is funny, and reminds me of a friend of mine that softly moans while he eats.
Yeah, I don't know..
