PNG editor?

Hiyas!

To cut to the chase, I've started to have the need to upload in pngs. mostly due to how dA has become incompatible with tiff and also due to how much smaller PNGs are.

However, all I need is to download something that allows me to edit contrast and brightness. that is all I need. i don't want gimp or paint.net. i just want something that edits brightness and contrast, which Windows can't do on a png for some reason. and I'm getting kind of tired of saving everything as a TIFF, editing, and then resaving it as a png.

First of all i figure you must feel frustrated that people are asking why not use such and such a thing when you seemingly want something simple, but just so you know the tone of some of your replies to people that are trying to help makes you sound like a twat :B

Anyway here are some lists of programs that you may find useful, most of them are just basic photo editors so they should have a brightness/contrast editor. You can read up on them a bit and then download which one you think looks good.

It's kind of hard to sound thankful when everyone seems to not get what I am saying. But I thank you for these. And yes, I know I sound like a bitch. Actually, hell, I sound like a c-word, but the past few months have not been good for me. All I wanted was something simple and I thank god and you for finally sending it to me.

No problem. Haha yah well, most of the time people want things with all the bells and whistles attached to when asking for the complete opposite it's kind of like a "are you sure that's what you want?" moment :P I hope your next few months get better for you but also try not to take out your frustrations too much on other people ok :)

Yes well, I'm in the boonies. I've been taught you gotta live with what you gotta live with.

Eh, I'm not so sure about that. My financial aid for college has always been fucked up. That's why I need just a PNG editor, lols. II may be staying home all of next semester, whether it be ot not be my decision. That's why I'm all like "BLARRGH NO BELLS AND WHISTLES!!" Even though I could do digital art quite well, I want to improve on my traditional.

Plus there's that, and I do have my music program, which kills my computer as it is, and I love remixing whenever I can get to it.

Pro tip: You don't need to use features you don't like.

I don't see why I need to download something so unneeded when there probably is program that only does what I need. All I need is brightness, contrast and cropping. That is it. There is probably something that is only that.

Plus my computer at home is on it's last legs. It probably can't load GIMp. It can barely load my Fruity Loops (a music program).

GIMP is 70 MB download, and that's not much. And it has pretty much low system requirements.

Unless you have a museum sample of a computer with Windows 98 running, but if that's the case, you won't find anything that would suit your needs.

It's Vista. The thing is around four years old and is probably infested with viruses.

Like I said, The thing barely opens up my music program. There are some days it won't even load.

It may not be a 98, but it sure as hell acts like one.

I own a vista and even though its bit sluggish for about the same amount of time, it still runs my art programs fine.

If your computer is infested and sluggish, then research how to fix your computer.

My computer is gonna die. It lived a damned good life, but it's gonna die. It can't be fixed at this point.

And it probably won't run GIMP. My computer just acts funny if you put a small MB music file on the desktop. Last night I had to restart my computer because I put a few new photographs on it.

It's gonna die. No two ways about that.

Final verdict: Gimp will run.

Alternatively, get yourself a dual boot with some decent user-friendly linux distro and enjoy not worrying about viruses until Linux goes mainstream.

It has to be a program. You can't really access an online editor when you have dial-up internet in the boonies.

If I wanted to do that I would've just used photobucket. But that stuff takes like an hour to load or more with dial-up. And considering the fact I'll have to upload it to the site takes even more time.

It has to be a program.

Its not just a photo editor, you can at least draw with it, and do that brightness and contrast, and pretty much all the basic elements you need to use for editing photos and drawing.
Plus since its online, you don't even have to do it at home. You can go to the library or a computer lab to do it there. In fact if you want to save dialup, upload at a public library instead.

And considering the fact I'll have to upload it to the site takes even more time.
I can't help the fact that files take a long time to upload. Picture files are pretty big stuff.

Im mostly reading you have problems with saving to .png. Did you try researching it?

And whats wrong with Gimp, Sai, Open Canvas, Art Rage and Paint.net? Its sometimes even good if you have the extras in case later on you want to use them.

Honey, I just can't go fucking anywhere and do it. I have no car, no driver's license, this has been the third year I've had to had my permit reissued. I want to be able to upload it from home. Not anywhere else. Home. Want to know why? Because I may be taking a break from school next semester, which means I won't have access to fast internet. Why do you think I want a program?

I have no problems saving to PNG. I want to brighten and edit contrast and crop. That is all a fucking want. I want to able to do that, without having to save it a TIFF file first. Do you understand? I have no problem with anything else.

I just want to able to save the file as a PNG and then be able to edit it. I want to edit a PNG file. Is this understandable?

If I wanted any of those things, I'm just gonna pirate illustrator since that was what I taught to use in high school. But the thing is, I don't need all of that heavy ass shit clogging up my near dead computer. What is wrong you people?

All I need is brightness, contrast, and cropping. That is all I need. I do not need anything else. I do not want anything else. Everything else would be annoying and taking up important parts of my computer drive.
