well...it's always a problem to me because the scanner always make shiny my drawings..
I only got a nice result in the color of the skin once and I didn't need to edit my drawing with photoshop... but I don't remember how I colored it :?
I think I used several layers but i'm not sure...
this is the last drawing in wich I had problems with the skin... [link]

I hope some suggestions, ideas, techniques or tutorials :)
ty :)

The colours you use will be different depending on what kind of lighting is on your character. You shouldn't expect to be colouring the skin the same way if she's outside at night, during the day, when it's raining, indoors with an electric light or indoors with a candle. All of these situations would need different colours.

The best thing to do is to make a rough copy of your character (very simple, can be just a circle for a face and some rough hair) several times. On the first one use the skin colour you make up in your head. Then go looking for pictures of people with the same kind of skin standing in similar colour light -- photos and other artists' pictures. Check the differences between your first drawing and the reference picture. Is the skin in the reference more brown? Then on the second rough copy try adding a brown layer. More yellow? More dark? Lighter? Test out different combinations on your rough copies and when you find the one you like then that's the one you use on your final picture. Also notice the colour of the shadows so that you can make the change on the shadows everywhere in your picture. If the shadows in the reference are darker and more blue, then you'll want to use darker, more blue shadows on the skin, hair, shirt, tree, and so on.

The colour itself isn't important, you could paint them red and still have better looking skin than someone mixing some light red/brown/creamy colours together, you use shadow to bring it alive and give it shape, that's where people often trip, it almost tricks the mind into believing the tone is feasible. You need stronger shadows and less pink, if it's a very light skin tone you don't need much colour in it at all, I can't really give you a specific combination because there are so many different types. You just need to experiment, most people are browner than they are pink but with Manga styles you can pretty much do whatever you want as long as it isn't too bold, you don't want the skin to pull attention away from the rest of the image. There are plenty of colour charts for skin tones on Google and stuff if you need starting points for mixing.

I usually mix a cream colour, some pink/red and then another colour for the shading. You just have to play with the colours till you get the skin tone you want.

What I do is I shade lightly with a cream pencil for a pale skin tone.
Do you use Windows? If so, use Microsoft Office Picture Manager and try the "Auto Correct" feature. I use this, and it makes the original colouring show through a lot better
