Faber Castell or Caran d'Ache?

:iconfancygiulia:
Hi guys, what do you think about Faber Castell pastels? I'm going to buy the box of 120 colors ... do you prefer ALBRECHT DÜRER or POLYCHROMOS? I'm not going to use ALBRECHT DÜRER as watercolor...so...Caran d'Ache is better than Faber Castell?

I am using Polychromos myself and I am satisfied with everything. So I could recommend those!

A lot of people like you prefer Faber Castell...so I still have to choose between ALBRECHT DÜRER or POLYCHROMOS...

I don't know the quality of the "Albrecht Dürer"-line. Isn't there a possibility to go to a shop and take a look on both of them, maybe trying them out?

reading your response: you think that POLYCHROMOS would be most useful...thanks for your advise!

I've never used Caran D'ache (haha, it's Russian for 'pencil') but I use FB polychromos.

I like polychromos a lot because the colours are rich, they're easy to blend and no bloom develops over time.

Wow...it's strange! Because Caran d'Ache is a Swiss company!!!

It's not strange, it's just a pun. One of the most spoken languages in Swizerland is French, and caran d'ache is a French transliteration of карандаш. Also (maybe) relevant is that French was widely spoken by the aristocracy in Imperial Russia and the two languages do borrow lots of terms from each other, e.g. cauchemar-кошмар, douche-душ, portefeuille-портфель, and possibly bistro-быстро.
