I come up with great Ideas and start to work on them. But then I get stuck or tired and that's as far as I get. How do you keep yourself motivated while working on a project? Any tips or tricks that you use to help yourself keep on track? Anything is helpful. Thanks ^^
haha, if I'm just drawing for fun I do that too but I'm trying to get into doing art professionally cause it's what I want to do for a living, so... project time! lol single pages don't usually take more than a day but keeping motivated for a whole comic/manga is hard
Hire a slave driver to keep yourself on your toes.
Whenever you find yourself stuck, you can choose to do two things: one, you could take break from the main project and work on a smaller project from the same medium, the main goal is to finish it, or , two, rush through the project and come back to it later; having a tangible work helps decision making.
Whenever I become demotivated, I envision myself dead at a young age. I ask myself if I'd be happy with all that I had achieved in life. The answer is always no, so I go back to work.
Though I sort of already do that subconsciously, I have for pretty much all my life. I have this feeling of urgency like I don't have much time... and I don't know why, it's odd :/
i try to add external motivators, like working with other people. if it's not me on my own, but i have a responsibility to others then i have to get stuff finished. this is also why i enrolled in artschool. it the external assignmetns are both challenging and motivating to me.
as a writer best advice i can give to you is to just take a break from it. take a step back for a week or even 2 and do something else completely away from that project. usually with me during the break ill have a sleepless night which gives me a great idea for that project and i get back into it.
or even after the 2 weeks is done if the project was really good to start with and you did have passion for it opening it up after two weeks should bring that passion running back.
