Get your name out by finding your target audience and interacting with them. Soon they'll see that you make just the sort of art they like, and you'll become popular among them.
Part of my target audience is on DA. They're artists, so they appreciate art, but they don't make jewelry, they draw....so they buy art jewelry from me.
I'm betting that most of your target audience (that will actually commission you) isn't on DA at all because most everyone is good at drawing.
I honestly wish I knew the answer to your question. After being on here for 3 years, I'm still trying to get my name out there! I'm very active in the dA community. I post practically everyday, I never let more than a couple weeks go by without posting, because I sometimes feel like it makes my watchers lose interest in watching me (it sucks to think that, but it's true). I'm on here practically everyday, and I fave a good number of pieces, but only if I really like it. I comment on plenty of other artists pages, and I post in the forums regularly, but I still don't feel noticed here. That's not to say I don't like dA, I really do, it's just that after 3 years, you want to start seeing a fanbase. I have a little over 100 watchers and a good 95% of them don't comment on any of my work (I'm pretty sure that most of them fave though and most probably don't), which leads me to ask why watch me in the first place? It's another reason why I toss all my work into groups, because if my watchers won't partake in the interest of my art (besides watching from afar) then others will. Sorry, but keywords just aren't enough to hope that your work gets on the first couple pages. I know 2 very popular dA artists that cater their work to cute and adorable art (just like me), and their fanbase is solid enough to where they don't need groups to get their art and name out there. If my watchers would took more interest in my art besides watching from the sidelines, I'd be just as popular.
Kudos on having more pageviews than me! Honestly I have no idea how people who draw generic junk become popular. Some of them aren't even good. I've come across quite a few brilliant artists who barely get one fave on an oil painting. And not just any oil painting mind you. O.o
Eeeehh fanart. Most of the stuff I like people don't like/don't care for. ;_; Local art communities. I live in a teeny tiny island in the middle of the mediterranean. Here are no local art communities.
Anyways... What is the best way of getting out there? I am on da almost everyday and I post regularly... What can I improve on to get my name out??
Trying to sell commissions, whats your opinion on the prices?
