Successful Comissions?

Hey forums, I was just wondering, how did you guys with successful commissions get that way? No one seems to be buying anything, considering my stuff's already dirt ass cheap, and I'm about to lower the prices again.

I know I still have alot to learn, but still, I've seen people at my skill level doing commissions.

Is there some type of secret passcode to people who actually BUY commissions? LOL

You have to offer something unique, you have to be good at what you do, you have to be popular and you have to know a bit about business to get to advertising and such.

I'm know a good amount about business (I had a former business owner as a mentor lol) but my flaw probably is the unique part. I'm just starting, honestly.

Sure. You either have to be really good, or you have to serve a definite need (like fetish art or pet portraits) or you have to guilt-trip your friends into buying your less-than-stellar shit. Any successful commissioner who isn't doing at least one of the above is lying about their success.

I always ask myself "what would *I* buy and where would I buy it"? That usually answers a lot of my questions about why things aren't happening and what I need to do next.

Good point, I think I do need to start asking myself that

Hi,

1) Charge money instead of points. 1 commission for $2 is worth more than 80 commissions for 1 point. (1 dollar buys 80 points, and points are useless outside of DA)
2) Always work to improve your skills and your gallery
3) Go find jobs. They don't find you.

1) I don't want the money, hell, me asking for points is already asking for alot
2) True, I've been doing that lately
3) Good point lol

Either not enough people know about you, so work on that, or you just don't have what people want.
