I use Blender for 3D, it free, but has quite the learning curve. And I usually use Gimp with it for textures. I also use photoshop periodically.

Photoshop, GIMP or Maya.
>< I find Maya really annoying for many reasons but personally, I think Photoshop is easier. I haven't used GIMP so I can't tell you anything about that, sorry. D: I hope this helps some what, I wanted to keep it short for you.~

looking for 3D art?

Welp, here is a few...

3ds Max (super pricey, Trial)
Blender (Believe this one is free)
Silo (low cost, trial)
Maya (super pricey, Trial: best get the education trial for free. requires being a student though)

These are off the top of my head. most 3D art programs have a decently big learning curve that more or less require decently pricey books. I'd recommend Silo in some regard, because NeverCenter (publishers) have a spool of tutorials and references on how to work in the program. plus it is very simple to use. just basic 3D modeling. also look up Autodesk. they got other 3D rendering and animation programs that you can also use as a student trial. however, you can't sell or commercialize things as part of a product made from the student versions if I'm not mistaken.

Hi,
I'd recommend downloading GIMP and inkscape which are free, and if you like them and want to try their more expensive counterparts, you can buy Photoshop and illustrator.

Most programs have a free trial but the time period may not be long enough to adequately learn the software.

other popular programs are corel, SAI, manga studio for painting and drawing, toonboom and anime studio for 2d animation, poser, 3dstudio, maya, bryce, zbrush and blender for 3d.
