No, I don't need your photoshop help, I know many of you get confused. I have an iwata eclipse hp-cs airbrush and I need help with it. It clogs up with paint about every 10minutes. its super annoying. then I have to take it apart and clean it then hook it up again. -_- The only art store around here sells special airbrush paint but it's 8-15$ for a tiny 4oz bottle.
what should I use to thin the paint more? anywhere online that sells airbrush paint for super cheap? any other helpful airbrush tips?
I haven't used an airbrush in ages, but I used FW inks and loved them. I cleaned my airbrush (I had a Paasche) by taking it apart and cleaning it, but also by spraying watered down rubbing alcohol through it. Not sure if there were any health issues with doing that, it didn't seem to bother me any. I didn't have many clogging problems at least.
Are you using Createx paint? if not try using createx, its a good paint that should spray through the airbrush. And one of the biggest cause of this problem could be the air pressure you are working with, make sure you are pumping out enough air from your compressor to push out the paint.
I don't airbrush much any more but when I did I switched from acrylics to airbrush inks and eventually to liquid watercolors.
The great thing about liquid watercolors is that they don't tend to clog or clump up and they are water soluble so cleanup is easy. On the downside, if the painting gets wet, the colors will run. If there is condensation in your air hose it can cause a big problem.
Other things to consider: 1) Is your air supply clean? Condensation or oil in the air line can react badly with the ink/paint 2) Don't mix paints or inks of different types or brands, that can result in clumping and clogging. 3) Clean your airbrush gently and carefully after every use. use the correct solvent. 4) Make sure not to damage the needle or the cone. a tiny crack in the tip can cause problems (I have a paasche but I assume there may be similar components in the iwata)
i'll have to ask my dad about the air thing because i'd have no idea. i think it may have been the ink i was using, it crusts up as it dries so that more than likely why it was clogging, but i know for a fact my paint is probably too thick so it's that too. but it's really all i've got to use right now.
i've got the appropriate cleaners & watched how to take it apart sooo all good. :3
