Adding blush to a plush?

Does anyone know how to do this in a way that will make it last? Or have a tutorial?
I don't mean like sewing on a little pink blush patch, I mean something like this: [link] because the material I'm trying to get it on is a shaggy faux fur kind of thing thing.

I was given instructions on using pink chalk pastel shavings and then painting them on firmly with a makeup brush, but that didn't turn out so well with a previous project, as it smudged easily and got everywhere. ^^;

Any help would be great. :)

The last time, (weirdest, yet cheapest way),I did that I just took a pink pencil crayon and started coloring on it = u =~ It didn't smudge and still looks okay :D but it won't show on dark colors I think

I use watered down acrylic, on a sponge perhaps? dabbed on, or acrylic ink thinned out by alcohol, but for such a light shade it could easily be done with either. I paint T-shirts with acrylic paint. When watered down, it's soft enough to not even feel and my husbands shirts are going on 3 years now, being washed on a regular cycle so I'd say it's plenty permanent too.

For cheap options, I'd do as starlit suggested.

Otherwise you could dust on some chalk pastel, but if it's a functional piece it won't last.

Airbrush. Either a dual action, with red dye, or a single action with a pink dye, or a very diluted red.

Put fabric paint in a travel perfume spray bottle. They look like this:[link] You can get them in the travel cosmetics isle at a store like Wal Mart or Target.

And I don't mean the cheap fabric paint that dries in a raised, lumpy way either. Get the kind that looks and dries like acrylic paint.

(Disclaimer: I may sound like I know what I'm talking about, but I've never done this before; that's just the first thing I'd try.)
