They say this is a great way to improve your skills but would drawing your own original art before you have the skills to do it justice Improve your skills, or would you be better off finding a picture in a style you love and want to learn and practice drawing that?

Drawing your own original art will improve your skills more quickly than (for example) picking a picture from your favorite anime and trying to duplicate it will.

While it will improve your hand eye coordination to try to copy another's work, it will not improve your ability to draw what you see, which is actually the hardest part.

The fastest way to improve, is to draw things from actual life. Your cat sleeping, a glass of water, flowers in the garden. When you are drawing, there is what you see and what your brain knows is there and your brain will often try to put in the things that it knows is there, when they are not part of the picture. And learning to draw is as much about training your brain, as it is eye hand coordination.

I agree but I had to ask I like seeing other artist feelings towards thoughts in my head then looking at thier work and seeing what thier beliefs and styles have lead too. It's always amazing to see how a person develops over the years call me a stalker of thoughts lol
