What makes a WebComic bad?

Personally I prefer B&W webcomics, I don't really like them in color, unless the coloring is really good like in Boxer Hockey.
Another thing I don't like in webcomics is the chit chat, when the characters talk boring shit for pages.
And the word vomit, there's always a shorter way of saying things, or at least break that huge balloon into pieces.
And the fonts, there's a lot of good fonts prefect for any webcomic.
I hate comics that draw the balloon first and then fit all the words they can in it, that's just not right.
I really hate eyehurting comics, like the ones that are pure linework, or the ones that are excessively detailed.
I don't like comics that just copy/paste a panel and just change the faces, the hands and the balloons, I personally think that's cheap, and it makes the comic lose dynamics.

This is just my personal opinion.

So, what do you think makes a webcmic bad?

Bad writing...Fights that have no meaning. Most comic books now days have dialogue like: "I'm gonna beat you up!", "Ha, Ha, Ha, no you're not, I'm gonna beat you up." I really miss have a character to cheer for.

BTW: The new "Amazing Spiderman" movie's Peter Parker comes off as arrogant. I don't think I'm going to like it.

I'm not sure why people are hating on B&W comics sometimes. It's driving me insane to see good B&W comics not getting as much views as the colored ones. Honestly the colored ones get kinda boring after a while because you know the colors of everything.
I love to have my readers guess the colors of my characters. It's pretty fun. :la:
Also I love the comics that are excessively detailed. It makes me think of how much hard the artist put into the comic. :)

When people draw the comic backwards, so hard to follow, like how Japanese comics are. It's fine if it's for a Japanese audience, but not for an American audience. Any webcomic that does this, *sigh*, I cannot take seriously. Those star things shouldn't be there in a comic, especially on a very fancy font. Oh and any manga expressions just throw me off. This one I was looking at for the hell of it had real looking characters and background, but it went to manga expressions throughout it. Not cool man.

I'm trying to do one now ...well I guess its official. I guess my pet peeves is when the art is bad i mean really bad, I was reading this fan-manga of persona 4 with Naoto in it she was the protagonist and the artist made her way too exaggerated and terrible looking, proportions were off and everything was horrible. Another thing is translation and sentence structure. when I read something it usually make sense ...usually but when the language gets misconstrued and butchered in a convoluted sort of way I stop reading and move on. Plot, the plot has to keep me interested, and it has to make sense. If it fails with all of those then forget it.

A bad webcomic is like Bucky Lawson born to be a star; a movie that is a purified example of shitty writing, plot, characters, story, conflict and resolution. Then again Jack and Jill was the purified example first.

I think the biggest flaw I see in webcomics is that a lot of these guys can't really self edit themselves. I know this is an arty site, and we all love total creative freedom, but if you want to make something for an audience, you need to consider what they would want, what would offend them, and other such things. If there is no editor you run things by, then you should try to edit your own work.
One comic that comes to mind when I bring up this flaw is Dominic Deegan. The writer had an incident in his story involving a rape. Even as a fan of the series, I think he didn't handle the subject matter with proper care. In fact, if you are not that skilled a writer then you should avoid the big R entirely, doubly so if your male.
And another example is Slightly Damned. It's a great comic, but it isn't afraid to drop the F bomb every now and then. But when it does, it just seems out of place when compared to the comics tone and style.

And about your work: the artwork looks nice! I have no idea what it's about though. You should inform people when you get the comic rolling in full.

Comics lay heavy emphasis on the visuals. I kind of agree on the 50/50 visuals/ storytelling, but in the end, word balloons and all the narratives are normally put after the art work, but are kept in mind during the process of making the art. Like Ojingogo barely has any dialogue, but its still telling a very unique and cute story. Clarity is pretty much important when you are drawing comics.

Likewise, if you don't have a story, you can't really write a comic in the first place.

When some happenings are cutted down to multiple pages and it can be really frustrating even if you cant wait till reading the next page

I agree. I honestly hate the comics that take about 10-16 pages to complete one conversation between characters. :noes:
