if i were to become a animation artist would i also have the necessary skills to be a comic book artist ? (cant seem to find an answer ,i dont know much in this area )
a) Don't go to an AI. Unless you're uber talented and it doesn't matter where you go. In that case I dont' know why'd you spend more money at an AI if you can make it off community college. b) You don't have to do a minor. I thought I wanted to do a minor. But no. I'm dropping it. Too much work. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Take just one or two year, and think about it. Test the water first before you go off to the deep end. c) Not sure specifically about animation, but off the top of my head famous schools in America include SCAD, RISD, Cal Arts, MICA, SVA Future reference:
I'm going to MICA for animation. It's very expensive, but you get what you pay for. Don't go to Art Institutes or any other heavily advertised schools.
The art institutes are all over the place in various cities. They're more like technical schools, so they wouldn't offer a minor. you'd probably be looking more for a school like SCAD, RISD, or CMU. But if you are going to school for art, be ready to be in debt for a long time.
I second d-studios. anything that is basically selling the hell out of themselves on TV or internet is shady and has gotten nothing but poor rep. good art schools, if they are good, are best spread by word of mouth and no where else.
SCAD [link] may be closer to you then... there are two campases in GA, one in france, one in Hong Kong, and there are also online options (wouldn't suggest online college though).
