I don't really find Anime/Manga that enjoyable anymore I used to draw things like anime, manga, and fan art. I kinda grew tired of doing this, I even have an OC which I love to death still. To me, I think I just got caught up in all the excitement of drawing anime and manga because it was very new and very popular when I started drawing it. And when I drew it I didn't really feel into it. So now that I am focusing on drawing fashion sketches and things like that I feel like I could do it for hours. I love it.
Even though I grew up with Manga and Anime, I also grew up with Vouge magazine, I love that magazine I have a subscription for it. People always say that Vouge is just full of ads, I always thought the ads were the most interesting part, sometimes they give me inspiration for things I wanna draw or outfits I want to design.
SO I have one question for anyone who reads this Forum do you think that anime and manga can sometimes be boring or just extremely popular? Or do you think that Vouge magazine is not worth reading or buying because of all the ads? And also What inspires you to create and what drives you to post on DA and show it to all of the world?
Those are my questions thank you for anyone who replies (If anyone does. ^^: ).
This is the world's most vague question. Idk personally I think most anime is shit. Some I absolutely love, but there's a ridiculous amount of anime out there and only a few good ones really. And why did you throw Vogue in this question? I feel like I'm being trolled...
Oh trust me I don't want to troll anyone, I just threw Vogue in because I thought it somewhat related to me wanting to create fashion designs. Thank you for your input.
Do you mean anime style, or anime fanart? Fanart would definitely get boring over time, I mean, it's totally hard to get hyped and passionate about a show that ended years ago. As for anime style, no, for me I don't think I'll get tired of it. There's just so many different ways to draw in the anime style, and many of them require a lot of artistic effort, which if mastered (oh my!), can be applied to many other traditional-styled paintings and formats too!
Why I want to create art? Because I want to see the characters I dream about, come to life! I like putting them in new scenarios, or have them interacting outside of story canon. And slightly because I want to weigh my art skills, see how people draw their art, and improve my skills on dA.
When I was in school, anime and manga were pretty much my whole world and I grew up watching Pokemon, Moomin, Digimon, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Monster Rancher, etc. and I love the Studio Ghibli movies. Basically, I felt like it was the only way to draw because it was popular. But as I got older, I realized it was deluding me, along with not getting me anywhere in terms of art style, so I outgrew it. I still read it occasionally, but I mostly read Western comics and graphic novels now and have been working to make my style more like that, although I still draw the odd chibi for a laugh.
Whilst I don't have a problem with the entire thing, there are a few cons which have partially put me off it:
The exaggerated levels of dark, violent and sexual materials in some titles, even in some of the ones aimed at kids. I know Japan has its own ideas on what they consider appropriate and inappropriate for young audience (and I can understand why, a lot of the history regarding ancient Japan is quite bloody), but frankly, some of it's enough to make me feel uncomfortable, especially anything to do with shotacon or lolicon. A large number of series seem to be constantly going without stopping, and when most of them do end, they always seem to have sad, depressing endings.
But I do have some pros, such as:
I've always loved the face faults, like sweatdrops and pulsing veins and stuff. Another thing I like drawing is monsters and demons, and Japanese folklore certainly has some interesting ones.
I still enjoy a few, and I still draw in the style, but I can't into any nowadays. I still hold onto a few nostalgic manga/anime from back in the day, but I try to pay attention to media with great storytelling and art, no matter where it comes from.
