Suggest a illustration program?

remh1986 Featured By Owner Dec 31, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Can someone suggest a good illustration program, like Illustrator, but only affordable I can use? I just would like to make my pictures like a little more polished.

I have no background in digital art by the way.

Start with Gimp, then if you still like it after awhile and want a better more refined program you can try then buy Adobe Photoshop.

Illustrators name is a bit misleading. You can make illustrations in any graphics program but if you are specifically looking for vector art then Illustrator is your thing.

I'd say GIMP if you want something free. Sai is affordable. Manga Studio is mid range, mainly inking and comic related. 5 has an extremely expanded color support. Photoshop has less smooth line tools but is crazy versatile. Also expensive.

Also check out Painter and Sketchbook Pro.

It depends what works for you and what you want to work in.

If you mean ilustration as in vector art then a lot of people use Inkscape. Its open source so its free.
