gimp zooms too much and too far!

how do i make it zoom less harsh?

i click the zoom button and click twice and im like in a microscope of my artwork then i zoom out and im like in space.

Zoom steps in GIMP are by approximately the square root of 2. So every two steps doubles or halves the size (Barring some rounding)

One step in from 100% should put you at 150%, and another step should put you at 200%. If you are getting more zoom than that, something's wrong.

You use the plus and minus keys in gimp, right? I'm pretty sure that's your controlled zoom. You should be able to adjust your settings, too.

I dunno, I can't stand gimp.

You're probably accidently dragging the box so it zooms out super far and super inward. I do that sometimes. With a tablet you need to be careful that you're just plain clicking and not dragging.

Instead of using the zoom button to click, use it like the rectangular selection tool to highlight the area you wish to zoom in on.
