Help with rendering city crowds

G'day, everyone.

I've been working on a web comic lately and I wanted to know if there is any quick way to create an effect of a person walking though a background filled with bland city masses. Not having much time, made me consider finding the fastest way the most productive one. So, I was looking for a fast way to draw masses of people in to the background, while still keeping the element of distinct silhouettes to set the atmosphere for one or the other environment.

Any tips?

The back side of the head should be easier. Then add a hat here and there. while have your character turn to face the camera showing his face among the hundreds of faceless back of the head sketches.

One big tip is to not worry to much about detail. You don't need to give them all faces, or distinct clothing, or anything like that. People shapes are generally all you'll need for a crowd, especially if you want them to be very bland and such.
