okay so ive started to make backgrounds for my images but for some reason when i put it under my line art layer it dosnt show up, its as if it isnt there. but if i put it over the lineart layer or where ever it shows up. i thought i was doing something wrong so i went through tutorials and such but im doing the exact same thing they are, and im extremely frustrated and confused!! so deviant art community... i seek your guidance..
help please!!

Did you ink your lineart on a solid white layer?

Yes.

Because now the white on the layer is blocking the background.
When inking, always ink on a transparent layer. _{just make a new layer. They're usually always transparent by default}

Are you sure the layer your line art is on isn't actually just a white layer? Try putting your background below the line art, then use the eraser on some random parts on the line art layer.

*to "layer" in the overhead bar then scrolling down to luminance to transparency

okay i scrolled down to luminance to transparency but now everything on that layer is all greyish..

nah its okay

make sure you are on your line art layer specifically and try again, if it doesn't work switch your line art layer mode or setting to multiply and that should definitely fix it
