Submitting Etiquette

:icongfx42:
I've read the etiquette rules about submitting content etc.I just have a question. One part says "your own original work". Do I take this as both, the actual work done & ideas? Or just the work? As a clearer example, lets say someone creates a photo manipulation and you seek to make a piece very similar. Is it okay to make a similar piece using a vast array of different stock and methods etc and submit it? Or does this break the rules?

It is original if you remix stuff into your own piece, and its original if you make up your own ideas.

Its best though you should contact the author to use that piece in your art work. Also give credit when its due.

If you're not ripping from them directly...but it may be worth noting the original creator first to see if they're okay with it.
