Am I improving? Criticize!

Hi! thank you for stopping by, here is the the thing; I'm currently an art student and I've been all my life into traditional art. But a few months ago I purchased a modest graphics tablet which I didn't really use too much because I don't really like digital art, and I was very critical about that "digital art thingy" because I considered it cheating in some way. However this summer I decided to give it a try and started trying and trying and I realized that it is very fun and useful when you're in traditional block.

Ok the point is that I think I'm stuck and I wouldn't mind a good critique and maybe some advice about my work. Can you please see my first attempts and my latest work and tell me what do you think?

These are my first attempts (oh the shame D:)

Yes. I think you have definitely improved and I rather enjoy your style. Your older works are good but the newer ones are a lot smoother and show more details especially in the hair. There is a lot more life to them in general and you are getting bolder with your color choices. The colors you used for the book in the Princess Bubblegum piece really made it feel more real than it would had you just kept the book orange and the pages white. Of course there is always room for improvement but I think if you keep going you'll just get better and better. Like Epidemic said though you should try drawing full bodies more. But because of your storybook style I don't think that you have to be TOO critical of the anatomy of your characters but it never hurts to learn new things you can possibly apply to your work. And also a little more depth to the shadows wouldn't hurt like he said. That's all I have to say though. Keep up the good work :)

You are improving, but have a long way to go. You need to approach skin, shape, form now. You have a basic understanding and patience of drawing but you need to start grasping anatomy now, you need to understand how light works, how a face curves and how it is shaped.
