Realistic looking flower ornaments

I am trying to create a website and want to make somewhat realistic looking leaf ornaments which i can then use to frame in the content area.
I want to be able to do it in Photoshop btw.
And I realize I could just take some leaf brushes and stuff but they would look bland and not realistic AT ALL...
So I wonder.. would drawing be the only way?

Well, I use Illustrator - so, I just open a picture in Bridge and convert it into vector and open this vector in Illustrator - then use my pen tool to create my piece - I have no idea how this can be used in Photoshop

If you really want it to look married to the content, creating and customizing it specifically for its purpose by hand would be the best way, yes.

Technically you could also photomanipulate various stock, if you wanted to go that route.

Is this an acceptable answer? I looked at your gallery and you seem pretty well accomplished in this area already, am I missing some part of the question?

Well yes and no xD
I thought maybe there's a way doing this with brushes too but maybe that was just wishful thinking overall :P

You could always use brushes, but like you said, it usually comes out looking kind of plastic. Things made with brushes are pretty easy to spot. The best thing I could suggest if you're set on doing it that way is to use a ton of different kinds and only use each kind once. You could also just use the brush shape as a base and go back to paint over it just a bit to give it that much more vibrancy.
