Choosing font for your work?

I've done so research on the matter, but I would like to hear more about the subject from anyone who might have been faced with similar problem.

What type of "rules" you use for choosing fonts for your work? Do you go with one that follows closely the general shapes found in your drawings, what about color? I guess in general I want to know on what basis you decide to use certain font in certain color to back up/in junction with your graphical material and are there any tutorials that might make the process bit easier?

I always end up stuck when it comes to choosing fonts. Either non of them are good enough (and can't quite put my finger on why) or I can't decide between too many good ones.

I like something clean and readable. I use sometimes, Century Gothic. It's quite similar to Arial, Verdana or Tahoma (and I like these fonts) =D

depends for what kind of work ! if it's visual communication, then you'd need a lot of font knowledge and I can't help you at all, but if it's for comics, why not hand writting, but actually drawing each letter ?

I am hoping to achieve some sort of a basic knowledge while making house style for video game I'm working on. So yeah it's graphical work.

oh, well then sorry that I can't help you. the only advice I could give would be to go in a library or bookshop, there are plenty of books on that subject !

Comics sans is well respected and received. Using it will make people talk about you. Comic sans should be used anywhere possible.

But seriously, either I copy fonts off the sources I like, or I go with what feels right.
