Need help with drawing badly

Forewarning: I have no tablet, and I'm not able to get one for a while, but the mouse is 'almost' as capable xD

Can anyone give me any tips? I'm trying to get better at digital art, but anytime I try to draw something it comes out looking wierd, at least the people I draw. Usually I have issues with the anatomy, but sometimes its faces, perspective, and drawing people at different angles that AREN'T head on. If you flip through my recent gallery works you'll see what I mean

I mean, I'm getting better (dear GOD, you should've seen how bad I used to be) but I'm not patient, or motivated, enough to keep practicing- it seems like all I do is effortless, but I know it's not, and that's what keeps me drawing still.

Like I see all these expert artists and I think "hell, they had to get here somehow" but at the same time I think "Damn, I'll never be that good D':"

Can you guys tell me specific things to improve on/ how to improve on them? It'd help a ton, and sorry for typing a whole life story lol

Motivation is a tough one, but there is really not much else to do about it. You compare yourself to many people that are older than you potentially as well, and even if the people at your age are better that won't help you skill level. Use references and the Loomis books potentially ( they are really good). Other than that, I think it is important to draw realism, you do of course get better when not drawing realism but it is probably a less efficient way. Here are two other resources. Posemaniacs forces you to draw poses quickly without worrying if it is crap, helps you get better fast. Lovecastle is a good site just for randomizing references, good for practicing. ^^

Meh, i'm not a fan of realism, as a style in whole. I mean, it's nice and it's a skillful art, but by all means, definately not where I want to go with my art, honestly lol

I already use pose maniacs, but thanks for the other link! :D

haha, im not really one to place myself on a high horse. I do definitely prefer realism myself but what ever makes you tingle, really.

You know, the fact that you can actually draw something using a mouse is amazing enough. I mean, I would never be ever do that; let alone draw something without making it crooked (I'm using a tablet and my lines are STILL crooked), what, with my shaky hand and all. So I think you're pretty amazing as it is.

When I say without a tablet, i mean that I draw it on paper, scan it, outline it in photoshop, color it, bam lol not literally draw with a mouse....but i have seen people do that before lol

Take a break from digital stuff. Pick up some paper and a pencil. Go here, get the Preston Blair book, and start doing these exercises. You will get a lot better, a lot faster.
