Japanese traditional art

i was asked to do a traditional style twilight landscape by a friend recently, however it's a very different style of art to what i do. does anyone have experience with traditional Japanese landscape painting and has some tips and techniques they could describe to me?
i guess there is also the question of what actually is traditional Japanese style, i have my own ideas but i guess other people will have theres =/

look up hanya masks ... geisha... koi fish ... water styles ... flowers and animals ... look up some japanese art books they will show you first how to paint a simple bamboo stalk and from there birds and flowers and anything you would see outside in japan
